Andrew Stone is an ambitious student with a great deal of potential. He has experience leading his peers and communicating complex topics to others with ease. Andrew loves studying technology and wants to share his passion with younger students. Andrew is graduating this semester from Florida State University with a degree in Information Technology and a minor in Business Analytics. He is involved and leads the Association of Information Technology Professionals (AITP) as Vice President. In this role, he is responsible for recruiting IT students, setting up information sessions with companies, and member workshops. During his time at FSU, he has also been involved with the Children’s Campaign as a Database Management Apprentice and working with the College of Communication and Information HelpDesk as a Support Technician. In the summer of 2015, Andrew became involved with the Florida IT Career Alliance as a Student Ambassador. When asked why he joined FITC, Andrew explained how he didn’t have someone telling him to study technology when he was a student. “I wanted to be able to help others who may not be sure about what they want to do in their life,” he described.

IMG_9715Andrew has been involved in a variety of events with FITC. He worked campus tours in the fall, where he was able to show high school students the FSU campus while talking about opportunities available in IT. His favorite experience was helping students in the Google CS program at Cobb and Nims middle schools. “It was amazing watching the students become excited and eager to learn how to code,” Andrew explained. “Their interest in moving on to the next step told me that the Google CS program had succeeded in sparking their interest in technology and STEM careers.”

After graduation, Andrew is committed to succeed in the tech field. He has accepted a position as an Application Developer with JP Morgan Chase & Co starting in July 2016. Eventually, he would like to become more involved in project management and potentially work as a CIO. As for now, he’s excited to finish up his last semester and continue working with the FITC team.
