Brooke Quinn is an energetic, smart, and driven student. She knows where she wants to be and is unafraid to do the work it takes to get there. Brooke is graduating from Florida State University in just a few short weeks with a degree in Advertising and a minor in Japanese. During her time at FSU, Brooke has been involved with a number of student organizations, including FSU Ad Club, Women in IT/ICT Sharing Experiences (WISE), and NSAC Arrowhead Advertising Team. With the advertising team, Brooke worked with students tasked with creating a fully integrated advertising campaign for Snapple to compete against other schools in the National Student Advertising Competition this spring. Brooke has been a busy student with her on-campus involvement, however she remained dedicated to her field of study by working multiple jobs and internships throughout the course of her college career. In the spring of 2015, Brooke decided to join the Florida IT Career Alliance as a Student Ambassador. “I was excited to have the chance to be a mentor,” Brooke explained.
So far with FITC, Brooke has been involved in helping organize conferences and events. Her superb communication skills made her a wonderful asset to the team. Brooke described how she contributed to the team being a non-tech related major. “My involvement and passion for communications proved to be a good fit for promoting and expanding the organization,” she explained. Working for FITC, Brooke created multiple promotional materials that engaged others with the organization. Brooke’s favorite role as an Ambassador was teaching students eager to learn more about technology. “I learned so much from this experience about Computer Science, Information Technology, and Computer Engineering,” Brooke described, “in addition to the job opportunities in technology, and I want to learn more!”
After graduation, Brooke aspires to move to Japan and teach English. While working as an English teacher, she plans on continuing studying Japanese and become fluent. “I think it would be fun to work with Japanese advertising,” she explained. Brooke has been an ideal Ambassador and her time with FITC has helped her develop into an ideal job candidate. “Thank you FITC,” she noted, “you’ve helped me grow as an individual!”

These students travel across the Florida Panhandle to promote information technology, computer science, and computer engineering to high schools. Ambassadors are responsible for activities such as running coding camps, assisting in technology clubs, or hosting college tours. For more information on FITC Ambassadors, visit the Ambassador page.
The Florida IT Career Alliance is an initiative funded by the Florida Board of Governors which aims to recruit, retain, and employ Florida's next generation technology workforce.
