Student Ambassador Zach Broe is passionate about sharing his love for technology with the younger generation. His ability to work well with his peers and superb communication skills make him a great teacher. Zach is graduating in just a few short months from Florida State University. He will receive a degree in Information Technology with a focus in networking and security. Zach has a strong work ethic. He is currently working three jobs and is a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals. One of his jobs is working as a Technical Support Specialist with the College of Communication and Information HelpDesk. In the summer of 2015, Zach decided to become a Student Ambassador to share his passion for technology and “show them that IT people are more than just the geek squad at Best Buy,” he described.
As a part of the Florida IT Career Alliance, Zach has lead campus tours, taught Google CS at Nims and Cobb Middle Schools, and helped other college students by leading a LinkedIn Presentation to help them get recognized by recruiters. His most memorable experience was helping the students in the Google CS program. Zach was an integral part of the team for that project. The team met with the students multiple days a week to review the material and build projects using Scratch. Zach enjoyed helping the students learn new methods behind coding and “really enjoying the experience helped me push myself harder. I want the new generation to take the technology I helped innovate and push it even farther.”
After graduation, Zach has big plans. He is moving to Austin, Texas to work as a Network Engineer with General Motors. Eventually, he would like to become a Project Manager at a major technology focused company. For now, he’s focused on his studies and working with FITC. “I feel like FITC is a great way for students to get involved in their community,” Zach describes “and give back.” Zach has been an exceptional Student Ambassador. The FITC team looks forward to seeing the amazing things he does in the future.
