Florida IT Career Alliance Student Ambassador Hyun "Ronnie" Myers is a perfect example of a leader. Ronnie is an intelligent and dedicated student. He is graduating tomorrow from Florida State University with a dual degree in Information Technology and Psychology. Ronnie is a true leader in organizations across Florida State’s campus. He is a member of the Association of Information Technology Professionals, and has also founded an organization named Codeducation and is current president. Codeducation seeks to gather individuals who are interested in programming, from novice to expert, and learn problem solving and programming skills. Ronnie is passionate about “promoting technology,” and had a desire to do community outreach. In the spring of 2015, he joined the FITC team as a student ambassador and has been helping young students learn more about technology ever since.

With FITC, Ronnie has been involved in numerous events. He helped teach coding and game design to a group of girl scouts this summer. He has tabled for FITC at events such as Tallahassee’s Annual Experience Asia Fest. Ronnie explained how his most rewarding experience was working the TalTech Expo. “It was a bit overwhelming, and it made me truly appreciate teamwork,” he described. He clarified how the event was his “first chance to befriend other ambassadors.” Ronnie recognizes the importance of technology education for students. He explained how “ many students are still unaware of the growth and opportunity in the technology field.” As for the work FITC is doing, Ronnie commented, “I think FITC will serve as an important piece in driving the next generation into the technology field.”

With graduation looming, Ronnie has got it all figured out. Being a superb, well-rounded student, he was able to land a job with Microsoft as a Support Engineer. His career goal is to “become a leader in a corporation I find the best fit at, or create my own software company…” With his skills in software development, he dreams of “using these experiences to create an application that can enhance many people’s lives.” Ronnie has the best combination of a great attitude and skillful knowledge to make that dream a reality.

FITC Student Ambassadors make up a team of dedicated and knowledgeable students both at FSU and FAMU. These students travel across the Florida Panhandle to promote information technology, computer science, and computer engineering to high schools.
